These were my favorite pictures...

A tree in red square in the spring, looking like fall, but bright.

The morning sun rising behind this statue of the founder of St. Petersburg.

Spotting the ice fisherman between the bridge to the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Winter Palace, hidden in the mist across the river.

A beautiful sight across the canal from the House of Friendship.

The Church On the Blood, seen through a most ornate fence.

Mosaic

A lovely Mosaic inside St. Isaac's Cathedral, St. Petersburg.

The interior of one of the members of Cathedral Square, Moscow.

I traveled to Russia in the spring of 1996 on a study tour as part of a Russian studies course at Grinnell College. We were there ten days and mostly visited Moscow and St. Petersburg.
